Reflective Statement

 At the start of this project i set myself a task that i thought would be challenging for me under the current circumstances at the time. It turns out i found this task near impossible under the circumstances that i found myself in shortly after. However as much as i am disappointed in the results of this project i can see this as a fairly good learning point.  I have learnt better ways of creating shots within Maya, as well as finding how important it is to understand how Arnold works and its time needed. I think in the future i need to be more aware of circumstance and use my time more wisely when i am able to be productive. After many problems with the software i have also realised that saving my work may not always be the only option to keeping it safe and backing it up is important. As far as the project goes i feel i definitely need to work on story-boarding and script writing as these are the parts of the production i can see clear room for improvement.

  Film Review: The Martian Finding how the Martian sits into the broader idea of a 3 Act structure was fairly easy, as its laid out narratively in 3 very clear acts. However deciding what part of the movies where what in terms of inciting incident, mid point and Climax where harder Distinctions. Exposition The First scenes of the movie are full of exposition showing the cast on mars taking samples and carrying out other various scientific experiments. Reflective statement 'What if Metropolis'

Reflective statement 'What if Metropolis' I found this project enjoyable however i feel that the changes to the start of this project, and the lack of artist research and visual development, made the start of the project slow and less enjoyable. I do like having choice of our concept art, because of this we have choices on if we wanted to make things easier or harder for ourselves depending on if we wanted to challenge ourselves. I felt the start of this project was slow however that may have been due to me having a clear image of the scene in my head and not needing to plan and figure out the scene i=on paper. To make my render better i would like to have used better materials in Maya,maybe using substance painter to create photo-realistic textures. In any case creating a better consistency between materials would be better, especially considering that the stage on my scene appears to be in a different style to the other materials in the scene.
