Pipeline 1: Head Modelling Part 1 - 8

Pipeline 1: Part 1 and 2

Part 1 and 2 involved setting up the scene and blocking out the main shape for the head, this process seemed simple but important to create a good base for the development of the model.

Part 3

Part 3 continued the rough blocking stage while also setting up temporary eyes and areas for the mouth and ear. this stage was very simple but took time so it is effective.

Part 4

While modelling the mouth I struggled a bit creating a shape o was happy with, however knowing i will return to the mouth when other parts of the model was done made me realise I didn't need to super worry about it and I should move on instead of repeating the same steps over again.

Part 5

The eye was another part I struggled making, needing to revisit it after some time to get a renewed perspective of what I needed to make and how it would be developed later. I found once I saw the later steps I knew what I was meant to be doing in the earlier ones, this understanding gave me more confidence in what I was doing and made me feel comfortable moving on.

Part 6

modelling the nose was simple enough and after previous parts i was more confident in making decisions and modelling the character.

Part 7

The Brow confused me in parts however I made it through the process without to much trouble. Understanding the tools was easy and creating the brow was a simpler step with a better understanding of them.

Part 8

Using the shape and vertex snap created a very strange shape at the start. This might have been due to the low attention I gave to the back of the head. However I was able to slowly shape this into something that looked good while maintaining a good jaw shape.

The Martian: 3 Act Structure

Film Review: The Martian Finding how the Martian sits into the broader idea of a 3 Act structure was fairly easy, as its laid out narratively in 3 very clear acts. However deciding what part of the movies where what in terms of inciting incident, mid point and Climax where harder Distinctions. Exposition The First scenes of the movie are full of exposition showing the cast on mars taking samples and carrying out other various scientific experiments. The Title along with the design of the set shows this to be astronauts on mars and sets up the location for most of the movie going forward. Inciting Incident This would be where the rest of the astronauts leave our main character Mark Watney on mars after presuming him dead in a storm. He instead doesn't die and manages to make it to the relative safety of the space habitat where he stops himself from bleeding to death. Before the audience is told about marks plans on how to stay alive fighting the main problem he faces in the whole ...

Tool Kit 2: Physical Sky

Tool Kit 2: Physical Sky In this tutorial I learnt about the physical sky in Arnold and how it can be used to easily mimic time of day when rendering exterior shots for animations. Using a variation of elevation, Turbidity, intensity and Azimuth you can create the different angles of sky light you would see in real life. Other settings that can be used to push a stylistic approach include sun tint, sky tint and sun size. These can be used to create strange effects that are stylised and aren't meant to look photo real. Day1. Mid Day. Morning/Evening. Foggy Day. Stylised Lighting.
