Premise Beat Sheet

Premise Beat Sheet

  • Establishing shots of the township from long distance

  • Shots get smaller and more focused, showing dysfunction withing the town. Showing the audience, the realism of the world to allow me to deal with real world issues

  • Shots show small memorials to deceased people finishing on a portrait.

  • Cut inside to the castle, to a corridor full of portraits, candles light the members of the family who are still alive and dead candles and flower memorials around the portraits of the deceased.

  • The young prince is replacing candles off the wall with the ladder, showing a person making small improvements/ working towards improving the situation.

  • A crash as a door opens, and a person huffs their way down the corridor past the prince, as they come from the room at the end of the hall.

  • He goes through the door cautiously to see his father self-enveloped in his throne meeting people, before the prince goes and stands next to the throne himself.

  • He is presented a drink in an ornate glass and takes it. (An important prop for later)

  • A member of the town presents a request on paper to the king, who shy’s away from the task. It shows a few coins for medicine.

  • The person after getting no response leaves, not angry just defeated

  • The prince sees his glass and the gem on it.

  • As the person leaves the prince catches them in the corridor

  • He smashes the glass and start picking it up

  • The person tries to help but the prince quickly slaps their hand to stop them. Before handing them a piece of cloth the size of the gem before gesturing them to leave.

  • The prince cuts his finger on a piece of the glass and softly shouts in pain.

  • Moments later the king burst through the door at speed alerted to the shout from the last of his family.

  • He kneels next to his son and looks to attend to his cut.

  • The sight of blood rattles the king and makes him scared, he looks up towards the closes portrait and sees its of his youngest child (Deceased).

  • The king shakenly walks away making it to the far side of the throne room before collapsing and getting help from his guard.

  • His crown falls of and rolls towards the throne.

  • The king sees his son dealing with members of the town who moved forward seeking help

  • The prince picks it up on his way and returns it to his father and starts to make his way towards to people again.

  • The king calls out to his son as he falls again

  • The price comes to help his father and kneels to help, the king smiles at his kindness before standing upright and placing the crown on his son's head. Before returning to a lower stance, being caught as he falls by his son.

  • The prince hugs his father, kisses him on the forehead and lets him move away towards his chamber's.

  • The people few people left in the throne room seem taken back.

  • The prince moves unconfidently but over-exaggeratedly towards and onto the throne, following a moment of hesitation he gestures the member of the town to present his plea, before fading to black

Tool Kit 2: Depth of Field

Tool Kit 2: Depth of Field This tutorial came at the perfect time for me as I was already messing around with depth of field in test scenes trying to understand it. This tutorial made it a lot clearer how to use it and how powerful it is as a system in Arnold. There is a lot of functionality in the Arnold camera and as such there is a lot of renders below to show each of the settings. First is the Filter map a system that works as a sort of vignette to the camera. A well as a load of setting to do with the shape of the blur including aperture blades as well as aperture aspect ratio. These can creating interesting effects if used in a stylistic manner. The main settings in the tutorial where Focus distance and Aperture size as there control how much of the scene is in focus and where in the z axes this area sits. Filter Map. Depth of Field 1. Aperture Blades : 3. Depth of Field 2.

Major Creature 4 Texturing

Major Creature 4 Texturing The texturing process is one I enjoy and feel confident in because of this I was able to sit through the process in a few days and generate the outcome. I came back to these textures a few days later to darken the textures over all once I saw then in Arnold. I also increased the level of dirt in the textures as they looked to clean.

Tool Kit 2: Physical Sky

Tool Kit 2: Physical Sky In this tutorial I learnt about the physical sky in Arnold and how it can be used to easily mimic time of day when rendering exterior shots for animations. Using a variation of elevation, Turbidity, intensity and Azimuth you can create the different angles of sky light you would see in real life. Other settings that can be used to push a stylistic approach include sun tint, sky tint and sun size. These can be used to create strange effects that are stylised and aren't meant to look photo real. Day1. Mid Day. Morning/Evening. Foggy Day. Stylised Lighting.
