Forbidden Planet: B Movies

Film Revie: Attack of the Crab Monsters

attack of the crab monsters has a lot of the stereotypical call signs of a B Movie, however these don't necessarily make the movie hard to watch or not-enjoyable.

Use of Stock footage

Many shots in Attack of the Crab Monsters are basic shots of the sky, sea and sea life. Weather or not these where stock footage I'm unsure however they could very easily have been if they where not

Low Budget Special effects

The effects for the crab seem low budget mainly what we see the crab attack one of the cast, you can see little detail or texture on the physical crab arm. Also when shots of miniatures are shown you can see the little detail and care that was taken while making and filming the miniatures for the movie.

Limited locations/sets

The entire film is seemly filmed along the same stretch of beach front while all indoors scenes take place within the same few buildings, this shows the limited locations B movies can be seen by as well as how smart the filmmakers had to be to make the most out of the limitations.

5 Redeeming Qualities

1. I found it easy to watch and shot well as to not be put of by it being black and white.

2. It was interesting to see what b Movies where like around the time giving me incite into the time period.

3. Its shot really well using interesting camera positions and shot types as well as great panning shots of running people

4. It was fun and didn't take itself too seriously and once you moved past the effects and take the things on screen for what they are meant to represent it was interesting and tense in some parts.

5. I really enjoyed the music in the movie, it seemed to really add to the meaning of what was on screen and was always playing to match the scenes.

Fantastic Voyage Submission Post

Fantastic Voyage Submission Post Fantastic Voyage :Art of by Torran Rodgers on Scribd Reflective Statement At the start of this project i set myself a task that i thought would be challenging for me under the current circumstances at the time. It turns out i found this task near impossible under the circumstances that i found myself in shortly after. However as much as i am disappointed in the results of this project i can see this as a fairly good learning point.  I have learnt better ways of creating shots within Maya, as well as finding how important it is to understand how Arnold works and its time needed. I think in the future i need to be more aware of circumstance and use my time more wisely when i am able to be productive. After many problems with the software i have also realised that saving my work may not always be the only option to keeping it safe and backing it up is important. As far as the project goes i feel i definitely need to work on story-boarding and
