William is an eccentric Genius in all forms, his encyclopedic knowledge of creatures and their evolutionary chains made him a standout xenobiologist when training for the fleet. However due to his poor social skills he was unable to ask for a reassignment, leaving him in a position on a non-exploratory ship. This has made him sluggish and monotone in nature, however, explodes out of this shell when dealing with creatures. As such he finds himself over excitable and brash when dealing with the unknown, even when being self-restrained by addiment professionalism. Due to his intelligence, he can be seen by his peers as quite cold and logical even with his great love of all creatures.

Background:

Assigned onto an exploratory vessel, as the fleets youngest Xenobiologist, Willian McManus was full of hope. His dream of venturing into the unknown and documenting the weird and wonderful started as soon as it could. For the last 20 years William has been to no unknown parts of space, instead his expertise has been used to maintain ecosystems on planets of known interest as well as aid the medical team in surgical operations on studied creatures.

During his 20th year serving on the Endeavour, the ship was ambushed while responding to a distress call near the edge of known space. What William first thought was an opportunity to final go into the unknown quickly turned into a survival situation. Making it to an escape pod William survived the destruction of the Endeavour. Williams escape pod spent 3 days floating in space before getting caught in the gravity of a passing asteroid. This asteroid slingshot his escape pod deep into unknown space eventually crashing of the planet Willian has Nicknamed “Hell”, He named it this after crash landing. Equip with a Brocken N.E.D. his training and know how William must survive this planet until he is able to signal help from the fleet.

Tool Kit 2: Depth of Field

Tool Kit 2: Depth of Field This tutorial came at the perfect time for me as I was already messing around with depth of field in test scenes trying to understand it. This tutorial made it a lot clearer how to use it and how powerful it is as a system in Arnold. There is a lot of functionality in the Arnold camera and as such there is a lot of renders below to show each of the settings. First is the Filter map a system that works as a sort of vignette to the camera. A well as a load of setting to do with the shape of the blur including aperture blades as well as aperture aspect ratio. These can creating interesting effects if used in a stylistic manner. The main settings in the tutorial where Focus distance and Aperture size as there control how much of the scene is in focus and where in the z axes this area sits. Filter Map. Depth of Field 1. Aperture Blades : 3. Depth of Field 2.

The Martian: 3 Act Structure

Film Review: The Martian Finding how the Martian sits into the broader idea of a 3 Act structure was fairly easy, as its laid out narratively in 3 very clear acts. However deciding what part of the movies where what in terms of inciting incident, mid point and Climax where harder Distinctions. Exposition The First scenes of the movie are full of exposition showing the cast on mars taking samples and carrying out other various scientific experiments. The Title along with the design of the set shows this to be astronauts on mars and sets up the location for most of the movie going forward. Inciting Incident This would be where the rest of the astronauts leave our main character Mark Watney on mars after presuming him dead in a storm. He instead doesn't die and manages to make it to the relative safety of the space habitat where he stops himself from bleeding to death. Before the audience is told about marks plans on how to stay alive fighting the main problem he faces in the whole ...
