Tool Kit 2: AOV's

The tutorial was really useful when thought about in terms of future projects and video projects. Understanding what these maps are and how you can use these in post production has inspired me to think more about what I'm getting out of my Maya renders. And the fact that you can set these up to come out along with your beauty render, and not needing to re render the footage is really good information to know, and something I will defiantly be using in the future.

The use of After Effects to composite EXR footage is something I'm really interested to know more about after finishing this tutorial. It seems like a powerful pipeline step that could easily be under or over used if not thought out properly.

Reflective statement 'What if Metropolis'

Reflective statement 'What if Metropolis' I found this project enjoyable however i feel that the changes to the start of this project, and the lack of artist research and visual development, made the start of the project slow and less enjoyable. I do like having choice of our concept art, because of this we have choices on if we wanted to make things easier or harder for ourselves depending on if we wanted to challenge ourselves. I felt the start of this project was slow however that may have been due to me having a clear image of the scene in my head and not needing to plan and figure out the scene i=on paper. To make my render better i would like to have used better materials in Maya, maybe using substance painter to create photo-realistic textures. In any case creating a better consistency between materials would be better, especially considering that the stage on my scene appears to be in a different style to the other materials in the scene. In the future i will need to...

Script V1

Big Game Hunter, Wharf, Handcuffs by Torran Rodgers Version 1 EXT. Dock -Day Fast shots create a rushed sense as a ape is sedated,  handcuffed and loaded onto a boat before a cut to black and a fade in. Ext. Boat Ocean -Day The Hunter and the Ape are face to face in a tiny boat. the Ape is much larger then the hunter creating a comedic image as the hunter rows the small boat through the ocean . There aren’t any supplies on the ship the boxes are empty and there isn’t a lot of room on the boat to begin with. The hunter tries to fish for some food however is unable to catch anything, the ape sees this and reaches into the ocean and pulls out a large fish. The hunter is surprised by this and frustratedly goes back to fishing, the monkey offers some to the hunter who turns away from the ape. The ape leaves the food next to the hunter and turns around himself. Fade to the next day  - the hunters clothes are more dishevelled. The monkey is looking longingly out ove...

Lion King : Archetypes

Film Review: Lion King Hero: Simba is the hero of our story and fits the archetype of a hero so well when thinking about the hero's journey. Shadow: Scar is the shadow in the lion king sowing ill will and deception in the start of the movie to set up the events of the film. Herald:  Rafiki calls Simba to action and shows him a way to get in contact with his father. He helps the hero find there way and shows Simba the path when he's lost. The Threshold Guardian: I think the threshold guardians are the hyenas in the lion king. i think this is because they are present and the threat when Simba and Nala go into the darklands, crossing the threshold into defiance against Mufasa. Trickster: Timon as he plan's to use Simba for safety as he is a lion and can scare off other predators.  Mentor/father: Mufasa if Simba's father and mentor, a father figure who is teaching him to be king even after his death at the start of the movie. Allies: Timon, Pumba and Nala are the main all...
